BIO

The Drystones are a young (just 20) lively folk duo from Priddy in Somerset playing violin, guitar and whistle, who have made a big splash since they formed in July 2011. They play a mix of their own tunes and arrangements of folk tunes given drive, beat and energy.

The duo have played festivals all over the West Country (including Sidmouth, Village Pump, Warwick, Bromyard, Purbeck and The Sunrise), and at their 2013 Glastonbury Festival performance they were highlighted by Steve Lamacq on Radio 2 as his “recommendation of the day”. They were the 2015 Larmer Tree Breakthrough Music Award winners and were asked by Michael Eavis to play the 2015 Glastonbury Extravaganza when Joan Armatrading had to cancel! They are currently working on material for their third album. For just two people they make a big sound, and you wont see a duo with more energy on stage!

“To describe their instrumental style as spirited and animated would be akin to asserting that Bellowhead can be quite an energetic band”– Clive Pownceby, Living Tradition

“absolutely blown away by their energy”
– Will Lang – Halsway Manor Centre for Folk Arts

“Do keep your eyes and ears open for these rising stars as they prepare to take the festivals by storm this summer”
– Rebekah Foard, Bright Young Folk

“Fabulous, I haven’t seen anything like it in 45 years of folk!”
– Dave James – Bromyard Folk Festival
